Starting last week, Bandai began teasing the release of new Character Missions on their 1st Anniversary website, saying that players can expect both titles and Diamond Cubes as rewards based on the number of quests completed. Now that these have officially gone live in Rising Steel, the potential to get free Diamond Cubes through farming is far beyond what we originally expected.

How do Character Missions work?

Found under the Regular Missions tab of your book in the top righthand corner, Character Missions basically amount to completing quests with a specific character as a member of your party; and this is available for all of the different characters in the game currently.

The images shown above don’t initially look like much. You complete 50 quests with a Kirito unit in your party and receive both 5 Diamond Cubes and an equip-able title that increases the ATK & MATK of all Kirito units in your composition by 1%. It’s what comes after you complete this mission initially that’s the great part. Zib, a member of the top North American guild Knights of the Blood (KoB), discovered early last night in the community Discord server that the missions don’t end here.

There are five tiers of these missions available to complete for each character, broken down as follows:

  • Complete a quest together with a unit more than 50 times
  • Complete a quest together with a unit more than 100 times
  • Complete a quest together with a unit more than 250 times
  • Complete a quest together with a unit more than 500 times
  • Complete a quest together with a unit more than 1000 times

The rewards obtainable from these also scale up each time upon completion, broken down as follows:

  • 5 Diamond Cubes, Title increasing character ATK & MATK 1%
  • 10 Diamond Cubes, Title increasing character ATK & MATK 3%
  • 15 Diamond Cubes, Title increasing character ATK & MATK 5%
  • 25 Diamond Cubes, Title increasing character ATK & MATK 7%
  • 50 Diamond Cubes, Title increasing character ATK & MATK 10%

The implications here are huge. Not only are the top-end titles actually very strong depending on how your team is built, but more importantly, there are an insane amount of free Diamond Cubes to be obtained this way just from farming.

Adding all of the tiers together, you get 105 cubes per character who’s missions you complete, multiplied by 30 available characters. That’s a free 3150 Diamond Cubes available to everyone by completing these missions. What’s more, these are a permanent addition to the Regular Missions tab, so there is no rush to complete these (unless you really want to grind!).
