Hello everyone, Welcome back to the “Should You Pull” series— Providing you new banner and unit analysis, as well as scouting recommendations!

Note: These reviews are subjective and based solely on the opinions of the author. They are by no means guides that you must follow, so feel free to agree or disagree and share your own opinions; The primarily goal of these is to discuss current banners and new units with the community, and to provide additional insight from veteran players to those that would like it.

Today’s piece will cover the new [Radiant Scent] Yuuki unit.

[Radiant Scent] Yuuki

Element – Fire
– Sword
– [C] [A] [A]

Physical Attack: 2330

[Radiant Scent] Yuuki now has the second-highest physical attack stat among all Fire-elemental units, with the next two units being [The World I Should Love] Administrator (2320) and [Searing Tenacity] Iskahn (2320). While she isn’t a top-ATK unit overall, her attack stat does still place her in the top ten units and, all things considered, her high base stats should make her one of the stronger DPS units for Fire-elemental team compositions, just maybe not one of the best ones.

Other notes on base stats:

The rest of the base stats for [Radiant Scent] Yuuki are the definition of average aside from her speed. She has slightly below-average HP (5940), average MP (2360 slightly below-average DEF and average MDEF (1128 and 1152 respectively), average CRIT (666), and high SPD (316). Compared to the last few units, players will be happy that she won’t feel slow, but other than that there isn’t anything to write home about.

Spinning Slash C*
Slash attack (medium*) on single enemy. Lowers enemy’s incarnate break by 50% for 2 turns. Incarnate charge 20.00*%.

Screw Slash & Return A+
Slash attack (extra strong) on a single enemy. Deals damage on character of up to 70% of the character’s HP. Rotates character after the attack.

Sonic Leap & Charge Roar A
Slash attack (extra strong) on a single enemy. Increases own incarnate charge by x1.3 for 1 turn.

Absolute Sword Mother’s Rosario
Incarnate slash attack on a single enemy. Lowers Physical Res. by 20% for 1 turn.

Specific Imaginarium
Imaginarium of [Radiant Scent] Yuuki
Increases charge by 10% vs. wind-elemental enemies when using a CHARGE skill.

Additional Comments: While we didn’t end up publishing an article on the recently-released [Shot Through the Dark] Sinon, Yuuki inherits the same type of Rotation ASSAULT skill as her; An obvious nod towards this being the next gimmick/meta for units released in the future. We refer to it as a gimmick because it isn’t particularly useful in it’s current implementation.

While Rotation can certainly be said to provide additional turn-order options thanks to being able to rotate out the unit in question, there are downsides associated with doing this. Your unit will lose up-to 70% of their available HP (If less than 70% of their HP is available, they will be left with 1 HP after using this skill) and if you choose to rotate them out afterwards, you will be unable to switch them back in until a cooldown has worn off after the enemy’s next turn. Both of the above are trade-offs for increased damage on the ASSAULT skill, and we can’t currently say that this exchange is worth it.

Yuuki’s 2nd ASSAULT skill is interesting, as it marks her has the first non-EM unit to Increase own incarnate charge, but the drawback here is a wasted turn. If you don’t use this skill first, she will continue to charge less than the available Fire-elemental EM units. Besides the two mentioned skills, there is nothing else notable about Yuuki’s unit.

When should you consider pulling for Yuuki?

  • If you lack Fire-elemental characters, since Yuuki should prove to be a strong DPS option for your team composition.
  • If you lack chargers, since Yuuki will be a solid upgrade from most of the Fire-elemental pool.
  • If you want to min-max your Score on the current Ranking Event, since new units now have a 1.2x damage multiplier for these events.
  • If you have the additional resources and want to add more units to your existing Fire-elemental lineup.
  • If you really like Yuuki as a character or the artwork that comes along with her.

Should I pull?

Scouting for [Radiant Scent] Yuuki is a toss-up, and depends on the priorities you consider when pulling for new units. If you like Yuuki as a character, are trying to collect all of the available units, or are in desperate need of more fire-elemental units, then scouting on the Radiant Scent banner could be worth a shot. But if you already have a strong fire team or aren’t particularly fond of Yuuki herself, you probably won’t need to slip her in as a replacement for an existing unit.

Common Questions

What about just doing the first discount pull?

While most players will be relatively low on cubes following the anniversary and other subsequent banners, Yuuki will be a decent addition to your Fire-elemental lineup even if you already have a strong team so there isn’t much harm in doing a single pull. For only 125 cubes, pulling even just a single duplicate ★4 makes it generally worth the investment.

Any advice regarding weapon banners?

Discounted weapon banners are 100% worth pulling on, almost every single time. They only cost 75 Diamond Cubes, and pulling even just a single off-banner ★4 makes them worth the investment thanks to their being usable by any unit of that weapon type. Additionally, weapons starting with the first Anniversary units now have a 12% passive buff to ATK/MATK instead of the previous 9% when not MLB, so they will automatically be stronger than pretty much all of the previous ones.

Final Thoughts

[Radiant Scent] Yuuki is a decent Fire-elemental DPS unit if that’s what you need her for, but her kit lacks anything enticing to encourage players to scout for her. As mentioned previously, the trade-offs you have to make when using a Rotation ASSAULT skill and that fact that you need to use an extra turn for her to boost her own Incarnate charge by x1.3, aren’t currently worth the benefit. 2nd ASSAULT skills also don’t receive Short-wait time at Lv.3, only increased damage. And outside of these gimmicks, Yuuki doesn’t have any utility to speak of.

Even in the damage department none of her skills have additional conditions that would increase her DPS, so unless Yuuki just has inherently high base Skill Coefficients, she will likely fall into the middle of the DPS rankings for Fire-elemental units. The best comparison I can make ahead of actually testing her unit is to [Charming Heat] Alice, just without the RF utility.

Overall, I would err on the side of [Radiant Scent] Yuuki being a skippable or discount-only banner unit. The only exceptions here are if you are a unit collector, a huge fan of Yuuki herself, or want to do get as high of a score in the current Ranking Event as possible (the rewards aren’t worth it, but new units now have a 1.2x damage multiplier in these events).

Did you already plan on scouting for this new character? Do you have a different opinion when it comes to Yuuki’s viability as a unit and whether or not players should scout for her? Let us know in the comments or in the community Discord server!

I started playing now and got the new Kirito and Ronie, in addition to Sheyta battle’s end, so should I try to get Yuuki and make a fire team?
